Blood and Guts

I may have a current obsession with the show Dexter. I recall watching it a couple years ago but only was able to finish the second season and life happened and I never managed to continue watching. During this trip, a conversation happened (of which I currently do not even recall anymore) that reminded me of the show again and now that it is over, I figured now would be a great time to rewatch the whole thing! I finished the second season again and I'm hooked all over. I can't say I enjoy the second season and much as the first, but I'm not one to spoil anything. I can't wait to keep watching!

Hair Growth Process

I've decided to show you guys my growth process with my hair care system and vitamin intake! I figured I should do this every two or three months to see how fast my hair grows doing this regimen. I've been pretty stoked with how fast its growing! I can definitely tell its growing in patches though. I noticed that where I part my hair doesn't grow as fast at the rest (I'm not quite sure why) but the rest seems to be growing quite speedily.

The first picture was taken october 8th.

This last picture was taken today, Dec 10th. So its been about two months.

My hair has grown 1.3-1.5 inches in length but the top layer seems to have only grown about and half an inch to an inch.

Sorry for the super depressing pictures! I decided to post this super early in the morning, but thats usually when I'm the most productive so, ;P.

Happy Birthday Justin!

Justin and I have been staying with my brother up in northern california for about a week now and it's been lovely! I'm using this time as a way to bond more with my brother and spend a little more time with Justin. Enough about me though, today is a very special day! Today is Justins 22nd birthday and for this occasion, we decided to take a little stroll through the trails. It was so incredibly beautiful and I wouldnt have wanted to spend the day any other way.

We first stopped by the lake which was only a mile or two away from the apartment and just relaxed. It was chilly and quiet so we used that to our advantaged and just admired the beauty of the place.

Before we headed out, we decided to do a little more exploring and found ourselves amongst a bunch of beautiful all trees.~

Happy Birthday Justin! :) I hope you had a good time. (Don't hate me for the last picture. <3)

A Little Bit of Fashion Inspiration

I have always had a pinterest but I am now barely getting obsessed with it. It is the source of inspiration for me and I can spend hours just scrolling down the page. I figured I would use my inspiration in the form of a blog post to talk a little bit about some newish trends I've been seeing!

OXFORDS! I have always seen them on my fellow "hipster" friends but I am slowly seeing them worn on just about nearly everyone now! Since it is nearing the colder season, a combination oxford bootie would be the perfect staple! You can pair it up with a cute dress or with a nice pair of skinnies and bam! You are both warm and stylish.

I am absolutely in love with this skirt. It can flatter just about anyones body shape and it also a modest length. Pair it with a nice sweater tucked in and you can adapt this spring and summer skirt into a fall outfit! To further accentuate your waist, you can add a belt at the waist and create a new feel!

Vintage is definitely in right now, wether it is vintage inspired or thrifted from your local thrift store, the style has made a come back. Printed coats are just the cutest things to add to your fall/winter wardrobe. It can add a little pizzazz to a bland winter outfit and most importantly keeps you warm in the cold! Definitely putting this on my wish list….

Dainty dresses are extremely layerable. You can wear them by themselves or add a cardigan to keep the  girly vibe or pair it with a leather jacket to toughen it up a little. If it ever gets too cold, just put some quilted tights on and bam! I am noticing more girls whip these suckers out and I am loving it. I have never been much of a dress wearer until now (in fact I never even really wore dresses) and I just changed my mind after seeing a couple people dress them up. Can't promise I won't pick up more though!

I've also been obsessing over Peter Pan collared anything really. Especially on dresses! Also putting them on my wish list. ;D

I haven't seen very many people wearing these nor have I really seen them advertised anywhere but I am in LOVE with the style of these flats! They are the perfect style of flat and they can literally be worn with anything. These are unfortunately, out of my price range at the moment, but these are definitely something I am going to spoil myself with in the future. They come in all sorts of colors and styles so everyone should check them out. Link is right here, or click the link listed below.

Just a Little Update!

I wanted to update you guys on the little things I've been doing with my life lately! Since this is my favorite and by far most inspiring time of the year, I've been trying to do as many different things as possible. I've been overcome with an overwhelming feeling of appreciation for my life and all the things in it and I am so incredibly blessed to be here today.

Lately, Justin and I have been trying to getting a little exercise here and there so we decided to start the Insanity program. Unfortunately those videos are by far the hardest things I've ever done in my life, we just decided on walking the town. We usually try to walk over 4 miles and I have been enjoying every minute (well, maybe just the weather). Also, the last picture I took with my dirty blonde hair! It was sort of an au revoir hair mistake, hello hair conditioning moment.

I also want to give my kitty Pixel a little shout out because I've been super snuggly with him lately due to the little chill. I'm pretty sure he's become quite an attention seeker because of it though (currently he is meowing on my lap), sigh. I still love the guy!

BAM! I dyed my hair brown. I didn't really want my hair to look damaged even though it very much is. The dark hair allows for my natural hair to grow in with the damaged hair so all I have to focus on is taking good care of it. It's such a change! Every time I look in the mirror I get taken aback. It's so strange because this is my natural hair color, so I'm not quite sure it looks so strange on me.

So funny story about this bag. It was actually my sisters in high school about 8-10 years ago and she had no use for it anymore so about 3 years ago I came across it in her closet and I asked to keep it. When I got the bag, it was already in terrible condition. The inside lining was starting to rip off and the bag was started to rub away in the back. Over the 3 years I had the bag, it just got more and more ripped and dirty and it just looked like a mess. I love this bag, so there was no way I was going to let it die. I handstiched the inside lining back in the bag and patched the huge whole in the back of the bag with a patch of denim and lace. I'm afraid to wash it in the washer, so I'll probably test out an easy way to hand wash it! I'm hoping to add some band patches and cute stitch work onto it in the future! :)

I've also been doing A LOT of reading these past few months. I'm thinking about writing a whole blog post on the books I've been reading and including little reviews and such. Hope you guys will enjoy that!

I probably won't be posting about my thanksgiving until a couple days after, so I hope everyone has an awesome and safe thanksgiving!

This is Halloween

I finally carved my first pumpkins ever yesterday for Halloween! I'm not quite sure why I have never done it before, but I finally went and did it with Justin and to my surprise, it was a lot harder than I thought it would have been… I'm also not very creative when it comes to this particular holiday so I went and found a pretty good cheshire cat to mock on my pumpkin.

Here is the finished result! :) Justin helped me quite a bit since he has some super awesome skills at clearing out all the string and seeds so I can't fully claim my work to be all me.

We weren't really feeling going out and doing much so we stayed in and handed out candy to all the little trick or treaters (and the not so little). It wasn't too eventful but hey! we got to eat tons of chocolate in the meantime so that was good enough for me!

Feelin' witchy!~

Stay safe and enjoy your Halloween!

How I Went From Damaged Hair to Healthy Hair

Skip to the bold for the how to...

As a teenager, I went through all sorts of crazy. I dyed my hair every color I could have possibly thought of at that moment and went for it, and up until my most recent dye job, it has remained pretty healthy. In fact, I thought my hair was invincible.

(in order)

I had given my hair a break (or rather myself a break) of having to dye my hair over and over to maintain the color about a year ago and died it brown as you can see in the bottom left picture. It was pretty much the healthiest I've had my hair in a very long time. It was never really that bad, but at that point it was something I admired the most about myself, but as usual, I grew bored of it and decided to attempt at going white in order to dye it even MORE fun colors (pink, blue, green). I stupidly enough bleached my entire head and I immediately felt the damage. The ends of my hair were like straw and I couldn't brush through my hair without it tearing off and springing back, much like the elastic thread used in underwear. Even after this first dye, my hair wasn't blonde so I AGAIN decided to bleach and again my hair became worse in condition (it didn't get much lighter either).

I immediately regretted my decision but I couldn't go back. My hair was already damaged. I still attempted to put color in it but I didn't realize how much work it was for how little it lasted. The color lasted a whole washing before about 80% of it came off immediately touching water.

It was time to do something about my super disgusting scarecrow hair. I researched EVERYTHING trying to find a solution to my hair but I figured I'd experiment on my own rather than spending LOADS of money on products recommended for me.

First things first, I went to the salon to add low lights. This made the incoming hair more blendable than the straight blonde I had before. I also took a blade to a good 5-7 inches of hair (I wasn't a lover of long hair either way). Now cutting my hair really didn't do much in cutting off the dead bits. My whole HEAD was damaged, but I just wanted as little hair as possible to be damaged while trying to regain its health again. Finally, it was already looking better but it was still in absolute horrible condition.

For the How To:

The bleach had dissolved any oils from being produced in my hair so it was in desperate need of some replacement oils ASAP. I had been using Argon oil before but it never did the job I wanted. I decided to research some of the benefits of other oils and decided on the good old COCONUT OIL.

So now that I have that, I decided on a shower routine... My hair had NO oil, so washing it would only strip it more. I washed my hair maybe twice a week the first couple weeks. Most people start to wash their hair less and less so their head would produce LESS oils over time, but I was doing it so my head would produce at least SOME oil at all. Over time I would wash it more and more so it would produce MORE oil (so basically the opposite). Hair was bound to get oily sometime, right?

As for the products I use IN the shower.. I use nothing special. I had these huge bottles of dove moisturizing shampoo and conditioner that I had from a couple weeks ago that I never used up so I figured I would now. I quickly learned that it wasn't the products you used, but rather how you used them that made them more effective. When I shampooed, I made sure to not wash until my head was squeaky clean and when I conditioned, I massaged it through my whole head but only left in it for a short time since leaving conditioner in for too long can actually soften the hair and make it limp and even more breakable. Take note that NO HOT WATER touched my hair at all through this whole process. I used all cold water in doing this and my hair immediately thanked me.

Once I get out of the shower I lightly squeeze the majority of water out of my hair and let it dry for a bit without using any heat. Once it is slightly damp I spray the Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheart Leave-In Conditioner (I know... the name is long, haha) all over my head and use a wide tooth comb to brush it. Without this step, my hair would be tangled and frazzled everywhere. It allows me to smoothly comb my hair out without the fear of breakage. NEVER use a brush to brush your hair out when its wet. ALWAYS use a wide toothed comb. A brush breaks through tangles and creates massive split ends.

Once my hair is almost dry, I dot a bit of coconut oil on my pointer finger and massage it into the ends of my hair and make my way up. Note that coconut oil is very thick and can easily become very heavy and oily on your hair. Work VERY small and make your way up until it feels nice and hydrated for you. Throughout the day, if I ever feel my hair getting dry I apply some argon oil since it is lighter than the coconut oil and won't weigh my hair down as much.

I kept this routine up for a little over two months and my hair has made a DRASTIC difference.

Minimal to no heat used since I started the regime!

My hair actually shines now and feels much healthier! I hope this helps you lovelies.

They All Surrounded Me

One last little blog post for the day! Since I haven't done a music blog post in awhile, I figured I should show you guys all what I've been listening to.

For those of you who really know me, you all probably know that I listen to Eisley a freakish amount of times on a daily basis, but due to poop computer situations I haven't been able to get ALL of their eps and their individual songs (MacBooks don't really have a cd drive so that doesnt help...). Upon visiting my boyfriends house on a usual day I was youtubing a couple of their songs and told him of my unfortunate situation only to find out that he actually has all the songs I need and proceeded to take them for myself, teehee. Well, either way, I have been listening to them nonstop since I received them and thought the rest of the world should know about Eisley as well, if they don't already.

Taken from a Wiki:
"Eisley is a rock band from Tyler, Texas, consisting of four siblings (Chauntelle, Sherri, Stacy, and Weston) and their cousin (Garron), all born and living in Texas. "

Although most places seem to title Eisley as an indie pop genre, I recently discovered that they may also be categorized as Christian Rock. To those of you who may be turned off by that genre, don't fret! It is amazing music and I'm sure you will fall in love with them as much as I did.

Take a listen to my current favorite
"They All Surrounded Me"

And check out their page http://www.eisley.com/index.php
Don't forget to purchase their new album "Currents" if you'd like!
Let's try to get them touring back on the west coast! Wooo~

Pink Roses

If all you are looking for a little story time, I have something silly in store for you!~

I remember being around  6 or 7 living in the same house as I do now and seeing very minimal flowers planted in our front yard (our back yard as well, now that I think of it) and thinking it always looked kind of creepy since the house itself was pretty quiet as well. Not to mention there was this HUGE tree planted right in front of our house covering the majority of the house and dropping nasty poops and dead leaves all over the yard. Kids at school would call it the "witch house" but I had no idea why because first off, I lived there and I knew for a fact it was not a witch house, and secondly because it was just a tree and couldn't understand how that automatically made my house the witch house. How does that determine anything! So, as I continued grow up I began to notice this rose bush flourish in front of our side gate. As a kid, I never really acknowledged the full beauty of it, but I was secretly hoping that kids would see it and notice that my house wasn't so bad after all but unfortunately it didn't help. At all. One day I brought over a new friend from school and I decided to show her the bush and immediately she just began to cut all of the roses off and I got so mad that I told her to go home (it was the worst thing I could think of at the time). The following months I had forgotten about the bush since it no longer had any roses and it was getting quite chilly and it wasn't till the summer after that that I realized the rose bush wasn't even there any more. It affected me for a whole day and I continued to live on unfazed really until I walked outside today and noticed that right outside the door there was an even more beautiful pink rose bush growing.

Now, comparing the house today and the house 10 years ago, you probably wouldn't have recognized it. We knocked that huge sucker of a tree down and planted dozens upon dozens of flowers both in the front and back yard. At first, I kind of thought it looked tacky. Who plants that many flowers everywhere? But again, as I grew older, the appreciation for its beauty grew on me.

I actually love the flowers now and am proud to show them off (well... when they're maintained at least).

Funny side story, whenever I go into my back yard, Pixel gets really excited and wants to show me everything because to him, it's like showing me his own little outdoors home! ^_^ Such a sweetie.

My Current Obsessions and Other Small Things! *Super Long List*

With Fall comes new little obsessions! Tis the season to pull out your arts and crafts and drink your delicious warm concoctions. I figured I might as well share all my little random somethings with you guys to maybe inspire you as well. :)

I recently discovered this point system at Starbucks, or rather I knew about it but I finally jumped up on it. I've always been a fan of Starbucks coffee and its so darn close to my house, so it inspires me to get off my butt and leave the house!

I also bought this set of cute earrings at H&M for only 5 dollars! I've been wearing them non stop. The only problem I've had with these (I'm actually not sure if its ME or the earrings, since I haven't worn any in years) is that when I first started using these, my ears grew SO sore, but as I continued to use these over time, the pain went away and they felt fine.

Also, being at my brothers house I noticed his large collection of tea stashed in his cabinets. Since he doesnt even drink tea, I swooped up on it and became obsessed. Although I'm not too fond of black teas - green teas and white teas are DELICIOUS when combined with honey.

Greek Yogurt covered raisins. What more do I have to say? I eat these all the time!

My walls are so extremely boring so I decided to DIY some low budget frames. I went to target the other day to pick up a stack of 4 5x7 frames that were on sale for 4$ and got some prints made and went crazy! I already had quite a bit of acrylic paints so I chose the brightest of them all and made these cute frames. Theyre not perfect, but I love them and they add some fun into my room.

I had bought all these Sailor Moon movies on VHS as a child but we don't even have a VHS player anymore so I figured now is a good time to convert these to DVD! Yay! Now I can watch these whenever I want. :) This show use to be my LIFE as a kid and I'm so extremely happy to have these in dvd form again.

So, I noticed there was this movie Divergent coming out soon and that everyone was talking about it and reading the books so I joined the bandwagon and got myself a copy. Although I have a book I'm currently already reading, I'm excited to start reading this.

And last but not least, let's talk about HAIR! Throughout the years I have done every possibly thing you could do to hair and its pretty much tired of me. It is so incredibly damaged and needs therapy ASAP. I have tried several different oils and conditioners but I have found that they made my hair feel gross and caked with product or even MORE dry! I have been reading online and hearing great things about coconut oil for both hair and skin and of course my mom conveniently had jar of exactly that for those specific reasons. I've always been really stubborn about believing my mom on things like this, but I guess maybe I should finally start listening.. (haha). Coconut oil has been SAVING my hair. It makes my hair feel sooo healthy! You do have to be careful with the amount of oil you do put on because it is EXTREMELY hydrating so you can easily put too much on and have your hair feel and look greasy.

And that is all for today! ^~^ Thanks to whomever stayed long enough to read all of this!

To the Bay!

Since I have a terrible habit of blogging about things days after they happen, I kind of figured why stop now? (haha...) I had planned for awhile to visit my brother in his new apartment up in northern California for the past couple weeks. He had just moved from San Francisco to this spacious apartment just 40 minutes east of his old place and it is beautiful! Having visited him before while he lived in the city, I was just overwhelmed with the amount of things you have to remember just to not get fined (parking is a real pooper). That and we just aren't city people so we were like, "Let's get the heck out of here."

So here I am today! I put my big girl pants on today and drove for the first time to another city! I was definitely nervous, but I had my super encouraging boyfriend with me to calm me down and help me get there!

When we arrived to the city, my brother was still in work so we decided to kill some time and EAT EAT EAT! We were both starving and found the nearest Five Guys and munched! It was so beautiful to see everything turn from desert to beautiful green forestry! That and it was a whopping 20 degrees cooler here.

Once my brother finally arrives (4 hours later might I add ;P ) we all settle in and unpack since we are going to stay there for quite awhile. We met up with the neighbors Samantha and Randall and had a pig out with pizza and that concluded the first night! I'm pretty stoked being here and I want to visit SF soon enough!

The view from the balcony with Justin!

Chop Chop!

A couple of days ago I decided I was done having long hair! There was a time in my life where all I wanted was to grow my hair as long as I could but I noticed myself trimming whenever I had the chance, so I realized I might as well just cut it off. I simply wasn't a long hair kind of girl. I've had short hair for my entire life other then the 4 years I attended high school so I figured I might as well stick to my roots, right?

I cut it shoulder length and dyed it a red-brown (even though I probably could have done another inch and a more vivid red) and I immediately fell in love! It was like a weight off my shoulders had been lifted, literally! I can move my head much more freely and I can do cute hairstyles as well!

And from the back. I added a cute bow cause why not?
